Graffiti Camouflage Body Painting by Trina Merry

Where else could Trina Merry’s camouflage body painting series begin, but sunny San Francisco? Exactly, nowhere.

Partnering with the best graffiti artists around, Trina Merry turned regular San Franciscans into invisible superheroes, skillfully masking their bodies with the rich art baked into the walls.

Armed with just a paintbrush and the naked bodies of many wonderful volunteers (thank you!), Trina Merry used body paint to disguise men and women against the alluring wall murals.

And as you can see from the incredible photos… Trina Merry, even, painted her baby nephew in a captivating scene at the world-famous graffiti hub Clarion Alley!

To repeat a famed phrase, ‘you can’t rush a masterpiece.’ Up to eight hours were spent on each camo painting. In the full glare of the public, Trina Merry worked painstakingly hard to ensure each detail was perfect. One stroke out of the place and the invisible cloak would be instantly removed.

Yet, the results were amazing.

The high-quality finish often led regular passersby to be caught off guard by the disguise. Some people were oblivious to the fact their peers were hiding behind the paint.

Trina Merry says the buzz of her live paintings gave her a spring in her step. “I was working with urban art as a visual artist and wanted to keep making work with my friends when I transitioned to body paint as my medium, so I started doing these camouflage collaborations,” Trina told the Daily Mail.

“My camo paintings take about one or two hours each. In general, body paintings take from four to eight hours, but painting on the street live gives me a specific energy that is heightened.”

A valuable addition to an international art capital with bustling street-art alleys that set the harmonious tone for the city.
